An “old-school bakery” now open in Wayzata? Old-school could be good. Has anyone been over to try this one yet?
Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal reports that a self-proclaimed “old-school bakery” opened recently in Wayzata, one of several new developments in the Bay Center area.
Mainstreet Gourmet Bakery opened June 19, right before the summer solstice weekend of storms. Losing power during its first weekend, combined with ongoing construction on Lake Street, led to a slow first week of business for the bakery.
The owners aim to eventually expand to four more stores, in Chanhassen, Excelsior, Plymouth and Maple Grove. They expect growth in the Wayzata location once the Wayzata Bay Center senior housing development construction is complete across the street.
The new bakery is one of several moves in the Village Shoppes complex, located across the street from the Lunds grocery store that is under construction.
