Gracing city sidewalks with permanent art from everyday people
There are numerous reasons people choose to live in certain places. Schools, convenience to regular needs such as grocery stores, commuting distance to work, nearby parks and lakes, etc. Some folks just like sidewalks. A place to walk. Now a place to read.
Saint Paul offers sidewalk poetry—and a chance for any Saint Paul resident to submit their poetry. Five poets will receive a $150 prize and citywide honor. Deadline is March 28, 2010.
I’m both an avid reader and a writer. Alas, I’m not a Saint Paul resident. If I were, I’d submit this poem (just written):

A house is a home
All sunny and bright.
We love warm scones,
hmm, delectable, every bite!
Good luck to all who enter the contest. Other cities—take note!
